This weekend, a battle of 25-foot-tall handmade kites will happen over a river in Shirone, Japan. The tradition dates back to the 1700s, when kite battling was used to resolve feuds of neighboring villages. I can’t wait to see the photos. I love Wes Anderson and his brand new Bar Luce in Milan, but a cafe can’t come close to a whole village. Though not officially by the Studio Ghibli team, I imagine entering Nukumori Forest is exactly what stepping in to a Studio Ghibli film will feel like. I’ll make it there one day. – Becky
