macOS Sierra 10.12.1 gets fourth beta build

One day after dropping new betas for iOS 10 and tvOS 10, Apple has seeded a new beta build of macOS Sierra 10.12.1 to registered developers this morning.

The fourth beta of macOS Sierra 10.12.1 comes a week after Apple released the last build that contained a number of bug fixes and performance improvements for the Mac.

Developers can download macOS Sierra 10.12.1 beta 4 directly from the Apple Developer Center. You can also install it via the Mac App Store’s software update option if the previous beta build is already installed on your Mac.

The biggest addition in macOS Sierra 10.12.1 is support in the Photos app for new pictures captured by Portrait Mode on the iPhone 7 Plus. Apple supposedly rushing to finish development on the software update because it includes support for the OLED touchpad on the new MacBook Pro. Apple is rumored to unveil the new MacBooks later this month.

The long-rumored new MacBook Pro will come with some big internal updates and design tweaks, with the most notable being an OLED touch bar that replaces the function row of keys. The power button may also get Touch ID capabilities.

The release note for the update don’t reveal any big changes. We’ll let you know if we find any new features or clues in macOS Sierra 10.11.2 beta 4 once we get it installed.
