Does the Otterbox Defender case for Iphone 4 screw up the battery?

I’m looking for a case that mainly protects the screen for the iphone 4 and I’ve seen the reviews for the otterbox defender. It’s gotten good reviews, but some people have said that it heats up the phone and can cause damage to the battery. Is that true?
Are there better cases that don’t affect the battery but still protect the screen??

Think about it, the case is on the outside of the phone, does not come in contact with the battery, and it causes it to heat the battery up how? If that was true, ANY case that covers the back and front of the phone, including screen protectors would be causing the same “heating up” of the battery.

It’s not a ventilation issue either, because if it was, the iphone case would be riddled with holes for ventilation, in fact it’s not, but the ports of exposed to dirt as well as moisture, and many cases have port plugs or you can buy them without cases.

So the Defender Series of cases for other phones does not cause this “heating up of the battery” that you “heard” happens with iPhones. I would say it is using the phone on full brightness, all the radios (cellular, gps, wifi) and running apps that is creating the heating up of the phone or bad batteries considering it’s only such a small number that seem to have the problem.
